Just-In-Time-Adaptive Interventions (JITAI) for Eating and Sleep Disturbances
Imagine getting the support you need at the moment you need it!
We are developing and evaluating a JITAI targeting eating and sleep disturbances in perimenopausal women. This intervention utilizes machine learning, passive sensing data, and ecological momentary assessments to predict vulnerable moments where CBT-based interventions can be delivered to achieve optimal effectiveness.
RCT of Exposure Therapy for Emotional Eating
Emotional eating is a maladaptive eating behavior that affects many people including those with eating disorders or those without. Emotional eating can be conceptualized as a learned behavior that turns compulsive after repeated negative reinforcements in some individuals. This RCT evaluates the efficacy of exposure therapy in reducing emotional eating. This research is funded by the General Research Fund, Research Grant Council, Hong Kong Government.
Experimental Partial Sleep Deprivation Studies
Sleep loss has negative impact on self-regulation. Our lab focuses on the effects of sleep loss on the regulation of eating behaviors. We have just completed two full-scale experimental studies examining how partial sleep deprivation affects the regulation of eating behaviors in healthy individuals as well as people who are at-risk for eating disorders. Manuscripts are coming! Stay tuned. This research is funded by the General Research Fund, Research Grant Council, Hong Kong Government.
