Prof. Chan provides psychological consultation and therapy at the Center for Brain and Psychological Health and HKU Psychological Services Unit. In her clinical practice, Prof. Chan values and promotes trusting, collaborative relationships with her clients. She believes that her clients are resilient and capable of change and compassion. She empowers them by working together to discover insights into their patterns of feelings, behaviors, and thoughts, and by cultivating effective strategies to help them attain a life filled with peace and hope.

Prof. Chan is at the forefront of developing and evaluating psychological treatments for eating disorders and disordered eating, such as binge eating, emotional eating, and stress eating. She has developed treatments that are brief and effective for addressing these problems experienced by many people in the local community who may not be aware that their problems can be treated by effective psychotherapy. If you are interested in participating in clinical trials of these treatments, please contact her at chanwais@hku.hk
